Friday came and was very welcome, for it was: a) payday, b) the end of the week, and c) St Davids Day (see link to info from the
National Museum of Wales). I wore the tunic dress below (a recycled pic) with leggings rather than tights. This outfit is probably the closest I can get to pjs at work... and also with a real daffodil pinned to me to highlight my (part) Welsh-iness. I did not wear
national costume, sadly.

| With tights, I felt too exposed! Leggings much better. This was taken last summer. |
Two UK clothing brands I consistently find to be great quality and fit on me are
Jaeger and
Hobbs*. At full-price, both require saving up for. However, every time I have sprung for something from them - from a charity shop, or full price or with a voucher or at an outlet, I have always proceeded to wear the heck out of it, (link to posts -
Hobbs woolly dress,
Hobbs NW3 skirt and
Jaeger skirt).
Happily, there is an excellent outlet shopping centre near my workplace which stocks both Jaeger and Hobbs - sometimes up to 70% off. Both shops present the stock really well so it's not overly-rummage-y.
*Linking because I love. I am just on a mailing list for both of them.
I had been into Jaeger a fortnight ago and spotted a gorgeous lace top, then thought about it all the way til payday! Very luckily, it was still there on Friday, with an extra 20% off and a bit more discount with my loyalty card :-)

kind of looks like a pile of
lace in this picture..! |
She's a beauty. The construction is excellent - fully lined with silk, and a long back zip so you can step into it, but it zips up to a close fit.
 |
| dark grey, and £16 - from £99! |
Also came home with me: these trousers, made from a soft jersey and cut narrow in the leg.
 |
| light blue and white stripe |
And this shirt - the softness cannot be believed, really. Slightly see-through and wafty but still tailored, so great for work.
My purchases were just in time, as on Saturday night we went to see a classical concert - our city is quite casual so jeans to concerts or plays are fine, but I had been on the look out for dressier tops - so ta dah -

| couldn't crop the flying pugs out... |
The camera flash was erratic yesterday - below is very bright but you can see the lace better...

spot the new hair
top - Jaeger
jeans - Levis
chelsea boots - Cara London |
Hope you are all having good weekends? What's the weather like? Here, Spring is springing, the sun has been out (even though it's still freeeezing) and the flowers are coming out.
P.S. Our roof is now fixed, am crossing fingers for no more leaks!
Oh the lacey top looks beautiful! Very nice with the jeans. It's great to find well-made clothes from a high-end brand at such good discounts. I will keep a look out in the charity shops for Jaeger and Hobbs for you, I assume you are size Tiny?!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your concert last night (I was out seeing music too), good to hear the roof is fixed, and yes, it definitely feels like Spring! xxx
Good we both got out to music! I enjoyed the vid you posted, I am an 8 in Jaeger, thankfully quite consistently too (compared to other brands like Aubin & Wills, where it completely varies according to style, grr).
DeleteI love the lace top - that would have come home with me as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's sunny, but windy and a bit cold here. The cherry trees are close to blooming.
It's so good when the flowers come out :-)
DeleteAck, it looks like the internet did eat the comment I tried to leave last night! Anyway I think the blouse is lovely and suits your figure so well. Even with my new boots, I still dream about a pair like yours.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cold here, but supposed to start looking more springlike by the end of the week. Fingers crossed!
Also re: your comment - I definitely plan on rocking the green dress as soon as possible. Just needs to get a little warmer out.
Well thank you for re-posting your comment! Bad internetz.
DeleteI will do my version of the blue 'twin' dress as soon as I see your green one. That'll shock work colleagues, as it's a very smart dress! Maybe I should go out somewhere on purpose to wear it...
Beautiful, beautiful lace top! I also enjoyed shopping with you, because right now I'm "unshopping" - will post about it later :)
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy vicarious shopping through others! It was a slightly naughty pay-day influenced jaunt... :-)
DeleteYour new lace top is so lovely - I am looking for one for spring/summer that can be worn just like this, with jeans or with a dressier skirt. You look fantastic! Shopping was well-done indeed : > Thanks for linking up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patti, I just squeaked in this week, planning to be more prepared next week!
DeleteDressy or casual ... beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jan, I am blushing!
DeleteI love the lacy top with those brown boots. They take it from overly dressy to just right.
