bookworm

Flannel shirts rule
Am feeling much better after a few days of catch up sleep in the week. Went into work Thursday & Friday for something I couldn't miss. So have been taking it easy this weekend as I went into full-on floppy and exhausted mode on Friday evening.

On Saturday, Mr SS and I travelled to the bookshop* where we each had a bookspa (see my previous post here). The experience thoroughly hauled me out of a deep book rut and I now have a stack of new authors to discover. The shop (an independent, fairly unusual now) is packed with curious and tempting books, lots from smaller publishers. The staff are lovely too, and so very keen on reading. The bookspa had included vouchers for the next visit, so I spent them!

*Linking because I love

I tend to sit down to read, though
Outfit selected for comfortable reading, a red check flannel shirt (from Aubin & Wills), jeans (Armani, super-bargainous from an outlet) and indulgent woolly cashmere socks (Thank you Santa).

L-R are the current ones - far left is the last one left from the November bookspa. I finished it Friday night and it blew my mind. Sorry for the cliche, but really, it did. In the middle and right are ones I picked up yesterday.

L-R - Just finished; about to start; the next in line
It's nice to have books lined up, I feel itchy-scratchy if I don't have a book to read.

Hope you are all having a diverting weekend? What are you up to?

  1. I love a good flannel!! Yours fits well and looks super cozy! Finding new books is always a treat! I haven't gone looking for any for awhile now and I feel like I'm in a reading rut. I should do something about that!

  2. Cozy socks, flannel shirt, and books? I think you need to be my BFF. I get very cranky if I don't have a book I'm reading. Your bookstore sounds like heaven. I usually find myself crashing from author to author trying to find something I like. Many of my favorite series are coming to an end.

I marathoned a bunch of movies this weekend, slept too much, and now I'm looking forward to diving into a good book. It's spring break for me, and I finished all my homework early. So I've got a week completely free to do nothing or everything!

  3. Ooh, thanks for the reading recommendation - I'll look for "A Fraction of the Whole."

    Love your casual 90s-inspired look.

  4. Last night I swiped your idea of cuffing my jeans over ankle boots; I could never figure out whether pants look good inside the boot or outside. It turned out to be neither. Cuffed all the way.

I am a voracious reader, and often rely on GoodReader as well as book award winner lists.
