A waterproof adventure

Hello! How are we all?

I took Friday off to meet my Mum and catch up, lunch and shop (the fruits of which are a future post). So I was fairly rested as Saturday rocked around... I dressed for warmth and comfort on a cold and windy day to seek out a new coat for Mr SS. I am holding another new tshirt from Muji (as posted here), this time in a size Medium so suitable for the gift-receiver (unlike the Small, which I gifted - to me).

what am I doing?
No idea.

jeans with sewn-in pjs - Howies
navy jumper - Jigsaw
striped top - Jigsaw
silk scarf - Liberty via Oxfam (charity shop)
trainers - converse
I realised halfway through taking pictures that my shiny bronze trainers were not visible, so took immediate stork-like measures to remedy this.

Now, I believe the Ancient Greek gods were looking down on us today (and laughing). We took a very satisfying trip to local independent shop Mele*, who specialise in coats. Mr SS tried on a lot of waxed coats with some help from the owners who definitely Know Their Stock, and found - with their help - exactly what he was looking for. No mean feat. We then walked back via a local deer park. About halfway across the park, it started to rain heavily... then hail...

*Linking because I love, and because of their care & enthusiasm today

Look, though - it really is waterproof!

Enfield coat - Barbour
(the deer were jealous)
Below is a picture of the desolate wet beauty in the park grounds.

We stopped off at the supermarket to get food, and actually bought new socks so we could walk the rest of the way home with dry feet. There was a subtle sock-replacing just inside the supermarket foyer. Classy, but so.worth.it for the happy feet.

So I am staying home and being slothful tomorrow! What are you all up to? Have you been hailed on / given some type of Fashion Weather Test by the Greek Gods?

  1. OMG! I was wondering what you were holding. I thought it was a little cake at first. Congrats on weathering the sudden storm, and taking that beautiful photo!

Living where I do, we have very sudden weather shifts. Today was so warm, I wore short sleeves and sandals. The worst I've weathered is lots of wind!

  3. You are lucky to have Greek gods, the ones who hang here are locals and looove to make it rain and then laugh at us. Like today, caught in a little squall. Awesome rainproof sheath there! And awesome bronze shoes, good for godlike flying about. I like the story of the sock switcheroonie in the grocery store.

  4. Teeny tiny packaged-up t-shirt! And great posing!
And it's always good to know a purchase is fit for purpose - Mr SS has one fully waterproof coat there! The Gothic photo is beautiful, and if you have wet feet, you need dry socks, doesn't matter where you are!
PS. Btw, which bit of rural Bucks is Mr SS from? xxxxx

  7. The park is so lovely. I've bought socks and switched inside the store or just outside it, so I'm pretty sure it is very classy and beneficial for sock manufacturer's too. I am jonesin' for your scarf, and wondering what jeans/jammies are :o
